从……来／起
从……来 (cóng ... lái) is used to indicate where somebody is coming from. The location appears between 从 and 来.
Example:我从柏林来。
Wǒ cóng Bólín lái.
'I am from Berlin.'
从…… 起 (cóng ... qǐ) is used to indicate the time when some action or state began. The time appears between 从 and 起.
Example:从那时起我就想去中国。
Cóng nà shí qǐ wǒ jiù xiǎng qù Zhōngguó.
'Since that time I wanted to go to China.'
