Selecting a Web 2.0 Technology

 

Objective:
Upon completion of this assignment, the ED 297 student will be able to analyze success in integrating technology by following the Evidence Based Decision Support method.

Scenario:
Following your excellent technology integration plan principal Akano has decided that you and the Ala 'Ike teacher you partnered with should be the recipient of "Give it to someone who will use it" award. This year a community donor has donated some laptops to the school, one for each of your students. Luckily the school and surrounding community are also covered by a free wireless network maintained by the City and County. As the recipient of the award principal Akano challenges you to integrate a Web 2.0 tool into your teaching. She looks forward to seeing evidence of effective teaching and learning taking place and recommends you follow the Evidence Based Decision Support model.

Come up with ither a culminating performance, guided learning, or initiating activity that integrates a Web 2.0 tool. Follow the EBDS model think of the various types of evidence you may collect.

 

Procedure:

  1. Group into teams of 2, 3 or 4 to work on this assignment or work on it as an individual. If you are working in a group please elect one person as the group leader. Have the group leader email the instructor the names of everyone in the group. Due: Tuesday March 2
  2. Contact group members and agree on what your Web 2.0 tool will be. Break the learning unit up into its the three stages of the learning continuum: culminating performance, guided learning, and initiating activity will be. Choose one of the stages and describe the following:
    1. State the objectives
    2. Selected instructional strategies
    3. Which web 2.0 tool was selected and why
    4. How it will be assessed
  3. Also explain how you plan to collect evidence, interpret it and act upon it to ensure proficient teaching is taking place.
  4. Compile all contributions from group mates and save finished plan.
  5. One partner submits your plan into the Assignments tool. Due: Tuesday March 9th

Format Requirements:
Design your document using Microsoft Word to include the following minimum requirements. You may add more if you wish.

  • Title Page to include the title of your culminating performance, guided learning, or initiating activity, names of the contributors, and date. This page should also include some kind of image appropriate to the unit. This image may be original art, clip art, or a scanned image.
  • Introduction page that includes a paragraph introducing the culminating performance, guided learning, or initiating activity and a brief intro to subject matter.
  • Activity to include:
    • Objective- what you want the students to learn and do.
    • Instructional strategy- describe the learning activity and environment in detail including why you chose the method and results you hope to see.
    • Technology- describe the Web 2.0 technology that you chose for this application and why? What is your back up plan?
    • Assessment- how to do you plan to measure the learning that takes place.
  • Also explain how you plan to collect evidence, interpret it and act upon it to ensure proficient teaching is taking place.
  • Groups If you are working in a group, provide a 1/2 to 1 page description of how the resources will be use to collaborate between students in each class.

Remember that this is a professional document. You are new to the school and want to make a good first impression. This means that everything should look good, be spelled correctly, and should be written using proper grammar.
