This painting is done with a synthetic media called acrylic. Acrylic is a paint made from resins, materials used to make plastic, mixed with turpentine. Most acrylics are water-thinned and water-resistant when dry. Because acrylic resin is highly transparent, the colors can maintain a high degree of intensity and don't fade as much as oils with age. Acrylic paint dries rapidly and works well when paint is applied quickly with little blending.

Here we can see the contrast of the freedom of the splash and the geometric shapes of the house, chair, board and pool rim.
