Karttikeya Boy-God Madras
This is the second son of Shiva and Parvati. He is known as Skanda, also
called Kumara (the Prince). He is the god of war and commander-in-chief
of the heavenly legions. The myths of his birth are many, and very different
one from another. In popular pictures he is represented as a child, seated
upon his mother's lap, or in prayer by the side of his brother Ganesha,
and is sometimes as a man of mature years. he is meant to have six heads.
His mount is the peacock and his is very widely worshipped in south India
under the name of Subramanyam. |
