Shiva and Parvati are the "divine family" of Hindu myth.

Parvati holds Kartikkeya while Ganesha and Shiva string together skulls of the Dead.

This is the second son of Shiva and Parvati. He is known as Skanda, also called Kumara (the Prince). He is the god of war and commander-in-chief of the heavenly legions. The myths of his birth are many, and very different one from another. In popular pictures he is represented as a child, seated upon his mother's lap, or in prayer by the side of his brother Ganesha, and is sometimes as a man of mature years. he is meant to have six heads. His mount is the peacock and his is very widely worshipped in south India under the name of Subramanyam.
