joining the two independent clauses.

Example:
   The door bell rang the maid answered it immediately.

   The door bell rang. The maid answered it immediately.
n In the example, the first sentence has two
independent clauses that are joined with no
punctuation. To fix it, we need to use appropriate
punctuation to separate the two independent clauses.
