From Earth's surface, we face the sky, each day watching an endless
kaleidoscope of colors and movement. We are treated to that entertaining
display, and allowed to live, through the miraculous development
of a light, semi-transparent atmosphere on our planet and the way
it plays with the sunlight filtering through it.
In this lesson, we look at the fundamental characteristics of the
air layer shielding us from space, and discuss some of the basic
interactions between the atmosphere and sunlight.
