Method of Course Delivery and Instruction

student on laptop, WWW behind her This is an asynchronous online course with most interactions and communication occurring via the class web site in Laulima. There are no set meeting times and no in-person class sessions. Access to a computer with reliable high-speed Internet access is required. Students are REQUIRED to access the web site and obtain course materials on a regular basis.

This is not a self-paced course: Students must follow the course schedule, or can move ahead of schedule if the course material is available.

Students may schedule face to face, phone, or web conferencing appointments with the professor at mutually agreeable times. Refer to the About Your Professor page for contact information.

Students will be required to devote a significant amount of time to reading course material and to the practice of programming which involves composing, testing, debugging, and executing computer programs. This is an intensive course that will require considerable time, especially if you have never done any programming before, so please plan accordingly. If you cannot spare several hours each day to reading and programming, please consider taking this course in the future when you have more time in your schedule.

Course content will be presented through a variety of media and activities, including an interactive online textbook, supplemental interactive text and audio lectures, pre-recorded demos, hands-on programming exercises, and online discussions.
