Grading Scale
The standard grading scale used by the University of Hawai'i will be applied to this course. The final grade is based on total points accumulated. The grading scale is as follows:
100 points = A+ |
87 - 89 points = B+ |
77 -79 points = C+ |
67-69 points = D+ |
95 - 99 points = A |
83 - 86 points = B |
73 -76 points = C |
63 - 66 points = D |
90 - 94 points = A- |
80 - 82 points = B- |
70 - 72 points = C- |
60 - 62 points = D- |

Grading Policies
NO extra credit will be permitted in this course; grades are based solely on the graded assignments.
While there is no penalty for late submissions, most programming assignments will build on each other and failing to complete one assignment on time will have a negative impact on your ability to complete subsequent assignments successfully.
Plagiarism will be penalized with an F for the COURSE, immediate deactivation of your access to the course web site, and reporting of the violation to the Educational Technology Department.

Scavenger Hunt
An online scavenger hunt activity will facilitate and measure your understanding of the syllabus and related material.
Discussions
There will be eight graded discussion posts. These posts will require responses to questions about course content, community-building activities, and reflections on the programming experience.
Computer Programs
There will be five programming assignments. Some in pseudo-code and most in the Java language which you will learn in class. These programming assignments will permit you to demonstrate mastery of programming constructs.
